Meet Hon. Mr. Valraj Singh

Hon. Mr. Valraj Singh was only 15 years old when he joined the United Nations Association of Fiji (UNA Fiji). He is one of the youngest member who has contributed immensely to the growth and development of UNA Fiji over the years.

Mr. Singh is now 20-year-old. He is originally from Nausori but resides in Suva with his family. Mr. Singh is currently studying computer and electrical engineering at the University of The South Pacific (USP).

Mr. Singh joined UNA Fiji on August 26, 2018. "My journey has been a rollercoaster of a ride. Ups, downs, hard turns, enjoyable swings and, most importantly, significant knowledge gained. If I had to sum up my experience in one word, it would be "roller-coaster".

Over the years, Mr. Singh has held various positions at UNA Fiji, which include: Executive Officer (2019), Basic Diplomacy Training Programme-BDTP Co-ordinator (2020), Member of the Protocol and Global Classroom Team (2021), Office of the President (2022), and currently he is serving as the Assistant Executive Officer for the Office of the President. With every given role, Mr. Singh was able to learn something new, and he applied those lessons in his everyday life.

"My favourite moment at UNA Fiji was when I was given the executive member role (2019) as it showed people had faith in me and people saw my potential."

Mr. Singh's father is the main reason that kept him from being part of UNA Fiji for this long. "My father’s wish of having his son be represented in an event conducted by the UN and my passion for debating and diplomacy".

Mr. Singh is well known for his honesty and transparency at UNA Fiji.

Apart from this, Mr. Singh is a great football player and has represented the Suva football teams in all categories (u14, u16, u19, u21, and main team) from 2014-2021. Including the southern divisions under 19 teams and also Fiji under 20 teams in 2019. He also won the young player of the year in 2017.
