Celebrating the Remarkable Journey of Prasit Shivek Narayan

UNA Fiji is delighted to share the inspiring story of Mr. Prasit Shivek Narayan, a young leader from Tabia, Labasa, who has achieved incredible milestones. Prasit recently graduated with his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), earning a Certificate of Excellence and a place on the Dean’s Honors list.

Mr. Prasit’s connection with UNA Fiji began in 2020 during his MBBS studies when he was inspired by the organization’s vision of diplomacy, public speaking, and leadership. He saw UNA Fiji as a platform to grow beyond academics and contribute to meaningful societal change. The motto, "Class, Dignity, and Elegance,” resonated deeply with him, shaping the way he carries himself both personally and professionally.

A Leader in Action

In 2020, Prasit graduated from the Basic Diplomacy Training Programme 2020 as the Graduate Speaker , a recognition of his commitment to developing his public speaking and leadership skills. His time with UNA Fiji allowed him to sharpen his interpersonal abilities and gain a broader perspective on global issues, preparing him for the challenges ahead in his healthcare career.

Unforgettable Experiences

One of Prasit’s most impactful memories was participating in a cleanup campaign at the Sai Prema Children’s Hospital in 2020. Although the hospital was still under construction, contributing to a project designed to serve children reminded him of the power of collective action. This experience further strengthened his resolve to improve healthcare systems and serve communities in need.

Overcoming Challenges

Juggling the demanding workload of MBBS studies with his commitments to UNA Fiji was no small feat. Prasit learned to manage his time effectively and prioritize tasks to stay on top of both. The transition to clinical environments during his practical years also brought challenges, but with support from his parents, peers, and a strong sense of self-discipline, he overcame these hurdles and excelled.

Passion for Healthcare

Prasit’s passion lies in maternal and child health and community medicine, areas where he believes he can make a significant difference, especially in resource-limited settings. In the short term, he aims to complete his internship and gain practical experience in healthcare delivery. His long-term goal is to serve in underserved areas, improving access to healthcare, and eventually specializing in Public Health or Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Guided by Mentorship

During his time with UNA Fiji, Prasit found a mentor in the organization’s president Mr. Akmal Ali, whose guidance helped him step out of his comfort zone and realize his potential. This mentorship taught him the importance of resilience, humility, and leading by example—qualities that continue to inspire him in his journey.

Giving Back to the Community

Prasit’s vision for the future includes dedicating his career to serving communities with compassion and care. He also hopes to give back by mentoring young leaders, just as he was mentored, encouraging others to believe in their potential and strive for meaningful change.

Words of Advice

To current UNA Fiji members, Mr. Prasit shares this heartfelt advice:

"Embrace every opportunity UNA Fiji offers. The skills you gain in teamwork, communication, and leadership are invaluable in any profession. Stay grounded in the values of the organization—they will guide you no matter where life takes you."

Mr. Prasit’s journey reflects the power of hard work, perseverance, and the values UNA Fiji strives to instill in its members. We are incredibly proud of his achievements and can’t wait to see all the amazing things he will accomplish in the future. Congratulations, Prasit—you’re an inspiration to us all!

With Class, Dignity, & Elegance
