Muzzain Ud-Dean Scoops Three Awards From Diplomacy Training
In an Interview with the Fiji Sun, Hon. Mr. Ud-Dean had expressed the his emotions and feedback from participating in the Basic Diplomacy Training Programme 2022, therefore, this is what the article stated;
Travelling from Nadi to Suva to study diplomacy every Saturday was no easy feat for Muzzain Ud-Dean. But perseverance and determination kept the 26-year-old on his feet to complete the Diplomacy Training Programme by the United Nations Association of Fiji (UNA Fiji).
He said the training had broadened his skills as an aspiring lawyer.
UNA Fiji is a capacity-building programme where participants learn speaking, debating, and writing skills, in addition to critical thinking, teamwork, and leadership abilities.
The training also includes peace building, mindfulness, and adaptive leadership training sessions. He reaped the reward on Saturday when he was presented three major prizes.
These were Graduate Speaker recipient, Best Delegate recipient and Basic Diplomacy Training Programme 2022. All these were from a tough 134 hours of studying the course. Mr Ud-Dean currently studies law at the University of Fiji.
He said the training would help him argue and negotiate for his clients in court.
“I am reminded of the time when I joined, not knowing what to expect,” he recalled.
“I had my doubts, travelling all the way from Nadi every Saturday, until a demanding situation arose, which I was able to resolve.”
“It was a generational and emotional dispute between two people who are close to me.
“If it were not for what I learnt here, I would not have been in a position to do so and that dispute would have continued unchecked.”
Interestingly, when Mr Ud-Dean travelled to Suva, he stayed with his best friend whose mother had become his mother too.
He proudly presented his two mothers to the rest of the 18 graduates last Saturday, saying that if it weren’t for the two inspirational women, he would not have been able to complete the course.
“This course is designed for individuals from any walk of life. All you need is self-belief and the willingness to persist,” he said.
“The inclination to make the necessary self-improvements to be an individual of a calm mind, body and spirit.”
